Principal Policy Officer for Biosecurity Queensland Mark Lightowler said public consultation would close at 5pm, 21 November 2014.
 
“We’re primarily seeking comment on options for managing banana pests, mango pests, cattle ticks, bee pests, and a fee for property registration,” Mr Lightowler said.
 
“It’s important that we hear from a diverse range of people who would be impacted by any of these proposed changes.
 
“Whether you’re a backyard gardener, bee keeper, hobby farmer or producer we want to hear from you.”
 
Mr Lightowler said providing feedback was easy.
 
“Respondents can have their say only on the topics of interest to them and skip other sections,” he said.
 
“This is part of the biggest review of biosecurity legislation in the past 100 years, so it’s important that people take this opportunity now to have their say.
 
“Detailed information on each of the options, including the costs and benefits to the community, is available in the Regulatory Impact Statement.”
