MEMBERS CODE OF CONDUCT
I have an obligation at all times to comply with the spirit and principles of this code as well as the letter of the law.
I acknowledge and observe the principles, rules and bylaws of the QHC.
I will act honestly, in good faith and in the best interest of the Queensland Horse Council (QHC) as a whole.
I will conduct myself in behaviour which is not prejudicial to the interests of the QHC.
I will respect the cultures, beliefs, opinions and decisions of others although I may not necessarily agree.
I will endeavour to balance the needs of representational and individual members.
I agree to accept majority decisions of the members, subcommittees and management committee.
I will demonstrate commitment to the goals of the QHC.
I will support, be true to and honour the integrity of the QHC.
I will not provide false or misleading information to the QHC or the public.
In all my deliberations, I will endeavour to only refer to information I believe can be substantiated by fact.
I will give honest, constructive feedback and value the input of others.
I will not make improper use of information acquired as a member or official of the QHC.
I will personally behave honestly and with integrity in the course of QHC business and will endeavour to be a positive role model.
I will exercise self control in my management of stress, anger and behaviour.
I will treat others with common decency and will recognize my limitations and accept those of others.
I will assist to create and maintain an environment that is supportive and encouraging to all members and acknowledge that our combined endeavours exceed the sum of our individual efforts.
My personal interests or the interests of any associated person will not be allowed to conflict with the interests of QHC.
I will at all times observe high standards of behaviour and ethical conduct and be flexible, patient, reliable and understanding.
From any official position I may hold, I will clearly state when I am expressing my personal opinion.
I understand that all communication, including emails are subject to this Code of Conduct.
As a member I recognize there are many operations or functions for which my assistance will be required.
lf elected to office, I will accept the authority and responsibility vested in me in the best interests of QHC as a whole, and not use my position for any other purpose.
I will respect the confidentiality of all information received during the course of my official duties, and acknowledge that such information is not to be disclosed unless authorized by the QHC Management and/or the person from whom the information may have been provided or is required by law.
Members of the QHC will perform any allotted duties within the generally accepted principles of conduct and decorum.
All public comments, media statements and communications representing the QHC must be approved by the person/s nominated for that purpose by the QHC management.
Members, volunteers and/or committee members who breach these standards could face imposition of penalties including removal from committees or disciplinary action under the QHC constitutional rules.
